While not as interesting as round 1, we do still have some plot lines this weekend. Richmond and Collingwood are both top 8 worthy teams (at least, on paper they are) that didn’t manage to reach their goal last year. Bulldogs and Sydney are playing in the grand final replay. GWS Giants and Gold Coast are the league’s most recent expansion teams. Brisbane and Essendon are the bottom 2 from last year, who managed to win their first game of the season. West Coast are the best home team in the competition, playing against St Kilda, the worst interstate team in the competition. Melbourne’s run for the finals was cut short by Carlton last year, can they beat them this time?
Finally we get to see the tri-tone rainbow I mentioned last week. Brisbane vs. Essendon is predicted to be close. It’s very hard to win back-to-back close games, though. That and Essendon’s rating is still fairly dated, which could take another few months to fix. Again, I’m predicting Adelaide to win by 15 points. I predicted that last week and they slaughtered GWS by a lot more. I guess we’ll find out.
