Not a bad week, it might’ve been improved if the video umpiring system was any better than a goal umpire. Not that it’s an easy thing to set up, but recently it has proven to be fairly unreliable and with as much human error as on-field umpiring, even with more evidence available.
We have a new team in last place, with Carlton diving after a big loss to Adelaide. They don’t even have the worst attack or defence, but they are 17th in both. At the other end of the ladder, Richmond have opened up a massive lead over the 2nd-placed team, Adelaide, and have a massive 30+ rating. Ratings like that are generally only awarded to teams that have been truly dominating, and with 17 wins from their past 20 games, Richmond have been doing that.
The adjusted rating also gets another tryout this week, with Melbourne crossing zero into the land of positivity. And with a match against Gold Coast next week, they’ll probably stay there. But Melbourne is Melbourne, so who knows?
